early orthodontic treatment
At Team Orthodontics we are often asked,
“At what age should my child get braces?”
The quick answer to this question is the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that every child get an orthodontic examination no later than the age of 7.
Just as you would with your child’s physician, having regular orthodontic checkups will ensure that any potential orthodontic concerns are caught early before they become more complicated.
Early orthodontic treatment can help address bite issues such as an overbite or an underbite.
Despite recent advancements in braces technology, metal braces are still hands-down the most popular option for dental braces. Metal braces have seen their fair share of advancements in recent years with a significant reduction in size, shorter treatment periods, and a more effective smile correction. These improvements, along with advancements in archwire technology, have also enhanced the comfort and hygiene of metal brace wearers.
Upon completion, braces or appliances are removed and a custom retainer is provided to help maintain orthodontic results. This also will help guide your child’s permanent teeth into more favorable positions.
Dr. Danyluk will also continue to monitor the development of your child’s jaw, teeth, and facial muscle to make sure that no comprehensive orthodontic treatment is needed in the future.
